Questions about eye examinations.

Why have an examination if I can see well?

Some eye conditions may have few symptoms early on. An examination can assess more than the sharpness of your vision, and your clinician can recommend a follow-up interval for your age, eye health, and risk factors.

Is a routine vision exam the same as medical eye care?

The reason for your visit and the findings can affect which services are provided and how they are billed. Routine vision benefits and medical insurance benefits can differ. Call the office and your plan to confirm coverage, referrals, and any out-of-pocket cost before your visit.

How often should my eyes be examined?

The right interval depends on your eye health, age, symptoms, medical conditions, and prior findings. Ask your clinician for a plan. New or sudden symptoms may need evaluation sooner than a routine follow-up.
